Four Main Fashion Week Trends Mirroring International Trends!
1) SHEER
This year, the peek-a-boo trend was a frequent occurrence on the runway. Designers like Misha Lakhani and Labels like Chinyere all made sure to include the sheer trend in an overall ethnic framework. The cuts were not too adventurous, with the material being used only to flaunt the abdomen, rather than being explored on hemlines as seen more often in the West. There is a lot of potential in the use of this material, but perhaps we here are only just putting our foot in the door, after being inspired by looks on the red carpet on the other end of the world. Regardless, the use of sheer is definitely an upcoming trend and we love the feminine and flirty nature of it! If you’ve got it, definitely flaunt it.
2) CROP TOPS
These little babies are everywhere. No, seriously. EVERYWHERE! Whether it’s a crop undershirt or it’s on top of a skirt – this is THE ‘it’ item of the season. Stars in Hollywood are rocking the same little numbers over full-length, volumous skirts. And we absolutely love it.
3) RUFFLES AND VOLUMES
If this fashion week has taught us anything, it’s not to be afraid of a little oomph, a few ruffles, and oozing volume. Luxe, ample fabric used in short hemlines was the go-to combo on the ramp. This look reads sophistication and high-end fashion. All you need to wear it with; is confidence.
4) MIDDY SKIRT
And finally, the middy skirt. Top designers like MUSE and Sana Safinaz rocked this chic piece in their collections. The middy skirt refers to the delicate balance of length that is below your knees but above your ankles. Printed, Poofy, Monochrome or fitted. The skirt is versatile, trendy, and is worn by some of our favorite Hollywood fashionistas as well. A welcome trend, if we have anything to say about it.
