Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week ‘15 – DAY 1

The 8th PFDC Fashion event, Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week Lahore is here yet again hosting unique and intriguing designers. Those who showcased their collection on Day one of the fashion week were Fahad Hussayn, Misha Lakhani, Zonia Anwaar, Natasha Kamal, Nickie Nina and not to forget the amazing collections by the 4 emerging designers through the Bank Alfalah Rising Talent show. The red Carpet was hosted by the very beautiful Natty (Natasha Hussain) who herself was wearing an amazing ivory colored gown by Fahad Hussayn while the man behind all the choreography was the multi-talented HSY. Here is a detail of what the designers had to show…

Fahad Hussayn The show opened with Fahad Hussayn’s collection “DEMOCRATS”, the luxury Pret, which was all about royalty. Fahad, as usual, did not fail to surprise us as it was like watching Monarchs of a bygone era. The collection featured floral and abstract digital prints in silk and chiffon. The silhouettes were all western from gowns, pants and skirts for the women and blazers and dress pants for the men. Loved the hair, make-up and of course Cybil’s headgear. The shoulder pads looked absolutely stunning and not to forget the colors Fahad played with. He used whites, blacks, burgundy, orange and shades of brown. Absolutely loved it!

Bank Alfalah Rising Talent:  Bank Alfalah, once again, gave the opportunity to 4 upcoming designers who launched some very creative designs. All of the collection was theme based. The designers who exhibited their collection were Asrar Yaqoob, whose collection was titled “Camel art”, he played with the shades of brown and featured a wide range of fabric including cotton, carandi, printed mareena and pure leather. The collection touched aspects of the local culture of Sind. Hisham Malik’s collection “Zirah” highlighted cotton net, silk, chiffon and kamaliya khaddar with an awe-inspiring colour palette comprising of black, baby pink, grey, crème and lake blue. Japanese inspired kimonos and complicated embellishments were seen. Najia Qazi’s collection “Sar Baqaf” which was inspired by the Mughal Emperor Aurangzeb’s time featured crop tops, pants and skirts while the fabric used was organza whereas the men’s wear suiting fabric was embellished with fabric paints and embroidery. The collection had a wide range of colors including orangish red, charcoal, green, fawn and shades of white. Nida Waqar’s collection “Creatures and Curious Minds” featured jackets, pleated collars and jacket dresses. Some were embroidered while some were embellished with beads, threads and sequins. Silk and organza was used but the digital print on it gave it life. The colour palette comprised of different shades of white, grey, green and yellow. High necklines were seen often in these four collections.

Misha Lakhani:  After the astonishing rising talent show, Misha Lakhani showcased her collection “Modern Mughal”. Misha used a variety of fabric including organza, linen, silk which was embellished with applique, cut work, piping, pearls and beautiful jeweled belts. The colour palette comprised of green, navy blue, aqua marine and ivory. The trends that were highlighted were mainly sari skirts, sari dresses, drop shoulders, backless gowns, striped sleeves, crop tops and geometrical prints. The entire collection went very well with the gladiator flats.

Zonia Anwaar:  Zonia Anwaar showcased her collection “Zambezi” which was actually her fourth showcase at PFDC Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion Week and was inspired by the African Tribes. The collection was based on organza, customized wooden droplets accompanied by her very own signature prints. She played with a colour palette of yellow, gold, blue, beige and black. What we loved about the collection was the geometrical patterns. Tribal embellishment, basic necklines, intellectual prints, little hemlines were  to be seen everywhere.

Natasha Kamal:  Natasha Kamal made her ramp debut last night at the PFDC Pakistan Sunsilk Fashion week with her collection “Le Nouvel Esprit” which was inspired by the Art Deco movement of 1920’s. The collection featured a colour palette of black and white to fawn and beige. Geometric patterns, again, were what caught our attention the most. The collection was based in silk, chiffon, organza and net with heavy embellishments using gota, sequins, beads, applique and studs. Floral prints and stripes were seen too. Hina Khwaja Bayat and Nur Maden were the celebrity showstoppers.

Nickie Nina:  The finale of day one was presented by Nickie Nina who showcased their collection “Chambeli” in the Luxury/Pret segment which was inspired by, as the name suggests, flowers. The collection featured organza, silk, chiffon, net with heavy embellishment of laces and pearls. The colour palette she played with was of white, beige, black, silvers and ivory. Trend which were highlighted were bell bottoms, short and long shirts, capes, coats, middies and shalwars. The blend of East & West was vibrantly put together with their clothes. Loved how neon colored geometric shaped clutches were carried with the dresses!
