The Stars are doing it, sportsmen are endorsing it and the health nuts swear by it. We’re talking about: Yoga! It’s a path to enlightenment that winds back 5000 years ago in native India. Yoga includes a process of exercise and meditation that promises to not only pump you up but also bliss you out. This age old technique is the “go to” exercise for the new millennium and is more than just a simple workout session. It is a very individual and organic practice. The whole essence of yoga is to be aware of your body’s strength and capabilities and slowly accept it while pushing yourself a little further, but only as much as you’re comfortable with.
Yoga changes your physical and mental capacity, while preparing the mind and body for long term health. It encourages overall health and wellness. It is not just about working out; it’s about a healthy lifestyle. It focuses on strength training and flexibility which is an incredible benefit to your body. The postures are meant to strengthen your body from the inside out so you don’t just end up looking good but feeling good too. It increases endurance, strength and flexibility. Mental endurance and physical stamina are tested through holding postures for extended breaths.
Yoga leads to an overall sense of fulfillment and a deep sense of gratitude in general. It gives your mind and body a total spiritual boost. Spirituality is all about living a happier life “in the moment”, responding to situations rather than reacting, de-programming and connecting with yourself to come with a fresh response to situations that reoccur in your life. Doing yoga regularly gives you the inner strength to manage difficult situations and to keep that smile going. Your inner peace spreads outward and makes you a human being full of caring, sharing and love. When you sleep, you get rid of fatigue but the deeper stress remains in your body. Yoga is a form of meditation that cleanses even the deepest layers of consciousness, leaving you rested and refreshed.
