It’s well past Valentine’s Day and love is still in the air!

…Well, sort of.

While most continue to sniff the alluring, syrupy scent of love, there are some ready to do anything to get away from its sickly-sweet stench! If there’s one thing all broken hearts can agree to, it’s that food remains food; loyal and tasty to the core. So get ready to splurge those bucks on the top ten, post-break up comfort foods guaranteed to transform your deadening despair into blissful buoyance!

  1. Chocolates:

Considered aphrodisiacs by the Aztecs and proven to contain endorphin, a hormone responsible for stimulating happiness, these velvety bars of ecstasy demand an evening or two of guiltless binging!

  1.    Coffee: 

This caffeinated bliss is sure to rouse a broken heart from its zombie-like stupor and make one feel a tad chipper! Not only is caffeine an antioxidant, protecting from diseases like Alzheimer’s, it also stimulates the mood with its feel-good effects. So give in to the creamy, saccharine warmth of steaming hot mugs while snuggling into your blanket with a good book or magazine!

  1. French Fries:

Three words: best food ever! To those who haven’t chanced upon this addictive dish, fries are long, succulent, gold strips of deep-fried potato and the savory feeling you get right from the first bite, when the crisp shell shatters to release the soft insides, is a sure-fire way to help forget the pain as long as your tray remains full!

  1. Ice Cream: 

This delicacy comes in a wide variety of flavors and forms, from the conventional chocolate and vanilla scoops, to the more complicated creations like red velvet and balsamic strawberry. The smooth texture coupled with a strong flavor provides a pleasurable experience as it melts into your mouth!

  1. Pizza: 

Who doesn’t love pizza? With a firm base capped with cheese, veggies and meat and the molten cheese, sticking in strands as the slices get separated, a piece of this scrumptious delight will be enough to have your senses engaged and your mouth watering! 

  1. Cheese Cake:

Hard to master yet easy to love, this number is a slice right out of heaven! The soft body supported by a stable, biscuit crust is a welcome distraction from life’s never-ending complications. Relax, breathe and indulge in the sweet, cheesy goodness of the mighty cheesecake!

  1. Nutella:  

The world isn’t mad about Nutella without a reason. This thick chocolate paste enriched with hazelnuts is the new Kintsugi! Salivate, anticipate, whip out a spoon and dig right in; no rules apply when it comes to Nutella!

  1. Brownies: 

Picture this: a plate full of thick, moist brownies, sprinkled with peanut butter chips and coated with caramel sauce. Now take a deep breath and imagine the feather-light aroma of vanilla and the dominating scent of cocoa wafting from it. Tempting, no?

  1. Steak: 

Rich in proteins and taste, steaks are the kind of entrées you cannot deny! Whether raw, medium or well-done, this meaty, guilty pleasure, topped up with an array of edibles like cheese, pineapple slices or oyster sauce is a fail-safe treatment for forlornness!

  1. Chocolate-chip Cookies:

These small, sugary disks of perfection come packed with all a broken heart needs; a crispy bite to sublimate the anger and the spontaneous hit of chocolate to dissolve the despair! What more could a person want?
