A lot of factors such as weak writing and poor direction, mindless characters, and over-the-top acting contributes in making a bad drama. Here’s a list of all TV dramas that failed to make any sense with their monotonous stories.
Jalan (ARY)
Ary’s Jalan became the most controversial drama of 2020 for all the wrong reasons. The strory revolves around an inapproriate affair between sister-in-law and brother-in-law. After several complaints and social media scrutiny, PEMRA imposed several bans on the drama. The notice stated that “drama is against the social and moral ethics of Pakistani society”.
Nand (ARY)
A love triangle, a few slaps and evil in laws – that seems to be the standard for our local television dramas. ARY Digital’s Nand had a combination of all of these and more which made it unbearable for audiences to watch.
Zebaish (Hum TV)
The story of Zebaish was but the bad execution and poorest direction by Iqbal Hussain took away every fragment of interest audience could’ve developed in the story. All the actors have overacted and their exaggerated expressions sent tremors to our brains.
Daasi (Hum TV)
The Hum TV drama Daasi aired in 2019. With the cast like Adeel Hussain, Mawra Hocane and Faryal Mehmood, this drama seemed promising. Well known writer Misbah Nausheen and director Mohsin Talat failed to meet the audience expectations. Overall, the show is described as a light hearted drama but the heavy storylines and overacting bogged the viewers down.
Mein na janoo (Hum TV)
Sanam Jung, Zahid Ahmed, and Affan Waheed starrer, Mein na janoo is an Adnan Siddiqui production and Furqan Khan direction. The drama’s plot goes beyond one’s logical understanding. Actors continued to play same old cat and mouse throughout the entire drama and sister rivalry. Hum TV delivered yet another gut-wrenching drama to viewers with its same old stereotypes.
Thoda sa Haq (ARY)
This drama takes the level of stupidity to another level. We honestly couldn’t make either head or tail of it. From forced cousin marriages to jealous exes, Thoda sa Haq had nothing new and authentic in its story. Even exceptional actors like Imran Abbas and Ayeza Khan couldn’t save the drama from its mindless writing.
Mohlat (Geo TV)
Geo TV drama, Mohlat is a drama that is based on everything the audience doesn’t want to watch. From extra marital affairs to saas bahu rivalry, this drama is based on the same concept as many dramas in the past. From pathetic storytelling to long pauses, this drama was not a pleasant watch.
Sangat (Hum TV)
The drama Sangat has to be the most reckless and mindless story so far. The emphasis on how the rapist isn’t really a bad guy is one of the most problematic and unjustifiable aspects of Sangat. Using rape as a plot device, victim shamming and irresponsible writing tore the story apart.
Khuda aur Mohabbat S03 (Geo TV)
With misrepresentation of niqab, normalizing stalking, hypocrisy of the protagonist and curse as a cherry on top, Khuda Aur Mohabbat became the recipe of disaster. Even the stellar casting of Iqra Aziz and Feroze Khan couldn’t save the mindless script.
Muqaddar (Geo TV)
Muqaddar was another drama last year with some of the most versatile actors. Unfortunately, it was the mindless drama of 2020 with the most irresponsible scriptwriting. From stockholm syndrome to second marriages, this drama had all the ingredients to disaster.
