Sabaat has permanently imprinted its name in our hearts. With a stellar cast with even more stellar performances, Sabaat left us hooked till the end of the show.
If you think about it, Sabaat had the clichéd characters to some extent, none that we hadn’t seen before. The poised girl next door (Inaya), the spoilt rich boy who evolved due to the girl next door, the snooty ‘nand’, and an evil friend; so what made it stand out?
The first and foremost thing of Sabaat being a masterpiece is that it taught us never to give up in difficult times. The way Inaya didn’t give up and went on to start a home based bakery would’ve given courage to so many women going through the same to step up and not give up.
Second, the sisterhood between Inaya’s friends. It isn’t everyday that we are shown such strong female characters and friends who genuinely want what’s best for you. That definitely was a favorite moment.
The way Inaya stood up to her boss in the last episode too deserves a round of applause and something we should all learn something from.
There was a debate about Inaya’s decision to leave without giving any explanation to Hassan about his accusations. Some felt she should have told her side first, but what is to be noted here is that Hassan didn’t question her either, instead accused her upfront. Inaya being a woman with high self esteem – and rightly so – was so hurt she simply left.
Inaya’s father (Ahmed Sahab) also taught us so much while teaching Inaya. And the way her mother adopted a child at the end gave us closure regarding her.
Miraal. Miraal was evil. Miraal was wild. Miraal was unreasonable but even she taught us to let go in the finale.
Talking about the finale, we will be honest, it felt rushed. A little more effort shown from Hassan’s side would’ve made Inaya’s forgiveness stronger for the viewers because when we took a poll, around 80% of the people voted that Inaya should not forgive Hassan. Even though it was Miraal’s and Atif’s doing, people were of the view that he should have trusted her.
Most people even wanted the worst for Miraal but she too had a happy ending. I myself wanted her to suffer till the end but come to think of it, what good would that be to anyone. What matters is, she realized her mistakes and moved on with Dr. Harris.
Talking about Dr. Harris, we need to understand he comes from a broken family and wants love. The reason he kept going back to Miraal is that he had already lost all the people in his life and didn’t want to lose another. However, we would’ve liked some more chemistry between the two on their initial scenes.
Another reason why Sabaat garnered such popularity is because of its treatment. It had no sensational background music, the whole vibe was calm and peaceful. The OST too is phenomenal and makes one go in deep thoughts as well.
A round of applause for each and every actor for delivering the best work of their lives. We have no words for Mawra’s performance to be honest, she will forever be Inaya for us now on. Sara Khan made us hate her while giving us major style goals and that is a total win for her. Ameer Gillani performed as if he has been performing for centuries – phenomenal! Usman Mukhtar too made us fall in love with him especially in the final scene of Sabaat where he was seen walking off with Miraal. Ahmed Sahab proved he has no match in the world with such a brilliant performance, especially in the episode where he passes away – we all shed an eye there. Seemi Raheel, Laila Zuberi, Kashif Anwar, Javeria Kamran and even Abbas Ashraf Awan left us amazed with their performances!
A big thank you to the director, writer and production house for giving us a masterpiece. Sabaat will be missed immensely.
