When it comes to planning your look for a party, wedding or a date you might have a hard time deciding if everything matches or fits just right. You may have the perfect kurta, the best ripped designer jeans and even the most bold single shade giant duppata. Your heels are on point and your hair in a pony tail set for the heavens, but do your earrings serve their purpose?
Are your earrings even there? Are you getting your money’s worth by buying the same kind of earrings by default every time you are bored?
The thing is where the ears may not be the window to the soul, earrings definitely play a huge role in completing the frame of the face, specifically balancing or enhancing the jaw lines. And of course they add that extra splash of color that brightens the polish of any fashionable or staple look.
So how do you decide on what to put into your forever staple collection of ready to wear earrings? To meet the needs of the modern Pakistani girl who has to appear in society in all ways and stand out without making any noise, we’ve come up with this list.
Jhumkey
These are a very specific style of Desi or traditional earrings, but the term loosely applies to any style of traditional earrings. Jhumkey are timeless, evergreen and not only do they complete a traditional or ethnic outfit, but thanks to modern trends they’ve made their way into everyday looks also. They are both fancy and everyday glam. And with the variety they come in, it’s a good investment to have them in different sizes and colors, since they are never going out of style.
Hoop earrings
Hoop earrings are a pretty simple but classic design. They go well with anything, minus Desi clothes, and as the song by Nelly Furtado go ‘the bigger the better’. Hoop earrings have been around for a long time, they have been seen ancient art also, and were a staple in the 90s Hip Hop and Rnb scene. And like we said they go well with everything, but especially if you have a clean minimalist look, hoops will be the best thing you can wear.
Something old something gold
Generally girls wear golden earrings to set their newly pierced ears. Gold is a good option because sometimes people don’t have a good tolerance for metal, which might irritate them, but gold is good and never causes any health concerns. You don’t necessarily have to go out and buy because that is expensive, so borrow some from your mama, only for occasions. You don’t want to always wear something that fancy and expensive. But again they are a cultural staple, elegant and glamorous.
Studs
These are a pretty simple and cute so you can pretty buy a couple in different colors and mix and match with the clothes you want to wear them with. They don’t stand out like the other styles, but they are good to have and don’t feel heavy or excessive for everyday looks.
Metallic and Modern
There are a lot of new designers on the scene who have decided to make artistic pieces of jewelry. There are plenty of creative and eye catching designs that you might personally like, and because they are handmade, you’ll be the only ones to have that design. The hard thing here is that these are pretty expensive at times, and because are not gold you might wonder if this is a good investment?
They are handmade art pieces, so think of this as a personal investment and maybe save up and buy just one or two, but wear them with confidence like a designer bag melted and molded just for your ears.
Quirky, Colorful and Odd
Be a little brave and get something unique but not safe. You can find lots of fun designs like earring in the shape of lemons and tomatoes. Obviously you can’t wear these to events or to work, depending on the kind of field you are in. This is good for fun parties or maybe just for an interesting Instagram feed.
You don’t necessarily need to have these but there a fun addition and will definitely stand out and grab attention and maybe some laughs.
Overall you can buy anything you like; this is just a list to help give you some inspiration and ideas as to what is a good collection, without going to crazy. Remember to always think about what you like and what suites your face.
