10 things tall Pakistani girls are absolutely tired of hearing!

I’m a tall Pakistani girl and I’m not a ‘khamba’ one thing that all of you need to register in your minds is that No I did not drink ‘complan’ when I was a child and NO I did not hang from monkey bars to be this tall. Being 5’9 has somehow led me to be the topic of discussion at most of the gatherings here in Pakistan. From discussions on my genes to predictions about my shaadi, I’ve seen people cross all limits on the mere subject of my height.

Here are some of the things all tall girls in Pakistan will relate to:

1.‘you shouldn’t wear heels’

If I had a penny for every time I heard this one, I’d be a millionaire. I know I’ll look taller than most of you men out there, but how about you leave that decision up to me?

2.‘tum tou pehlay say or lambi ho gaye ho’

Why is it that every time I see someone after a long time they think I’ve grown taller? Haven’t they studied biology, don’t they know how this works?

3.‘tum selfie lo na, tum lambi ho’

I’m glad you guys find my long arms useful.

4.Being told ‘itna lamba dulha kahan se layein gay?”

Thank you for showing concern but I’m sure kahin nay kahin say tou paida ho he jaye ga.

5.‘I’m going to look so short next to you, can you please bend down’

I mean sure if you want me to stoop down to your level. I’ve practically mastered the art of bending down just to make others happy.

6.Short guys saying ‘you’re little too tall, don’t you think?”

My, Oh, My, the countless times I’ve heard this one. Yeah I get it, I’m tall. But aren’t you the weird one for being this short for a guy? That’s right, I went there. Hurts doesn’t it.

7.“you could be a model”

Hey I’m not complaining. We all love complements like these. But please feel free to explain why isn’t anyone hiring me already?

8.‘We’ll get you married to a basketball player’

I mean I don’t mind.

9.Being called every other huge animal there is

Trust me, I’ve lost count of the times I’ve been called a Camel, llama, giraffe. Please stop.

10.‘tumharay ooper saari tou bohot achi lgay gi’

Secretly jalna mat when I send you a snap wearing one.

Thank you everyone for sharing your opinion and comments about my height, I thoroughly enjoy the confidence and authority that it gives me. Oh and the view from up here isn’t too shabby either.
