Conceal Your Seasonal Allergy Symptoms With These Makeup Tips

It’s that time of the year again where allergies kick in. Well at least I’m going through a really severe one. As if itchy, watery eyes and a congested nose aren’t irritating enough, those indications can cause puffiness, redness, and make your eye makeup one sneeze away from running down your face. So ladies, without further ado, follow these tricks to say goodbye to the allergies fighting so hard to make you look unpresentable.

Use waterproof eye makeup.

Waterproof mascara and eyeliner is THE MOST important part of your makeup routine if you have allergies. There are uncountable waterproof eyeliners in both liquid and pencil formats, and with so many waterproof formulas available, consider keeping a back-up waterproof version of your favorite.

Skip eyeliner altogether

If you’re still worried that watery eyes  or an indisputable urge to rub away itchiness which  may lead to smudged eyeliner, try an  alternate to eyeliner: eye shadow. Define your eyes with matte eye shadows.  A perfectly applied shadow can enhance, lengthen and add dimension to your eyes without the risk of a runny liner.

Color correct.

To combat nose redness, use a green-toned product before your makeup application. Dab a green concealer around the problem area, or try a green shade primer to tame the red tone. Just remember to apply it thinly.

Cool down the puffiness before applying makeup.

Swollen eyes can be very hard to conceal so it is better to use ice packs for five to 10 minutes before applying makeup. The age old keeping-metal-spoons-in-the-freezer trick, placing them on the eyes for a few minutes in the morning can do wonders.

Contour if puffiness doesn’t go away.

Focus on contouring the puffiest areas of your face, like your eyes and nose. Use a matte medium brown eye shadow shade to contour your eyelids and under your lash line to reduce the look of puffiness. As for a puffy nose, If the sides of the nose are extremely inflamed, you can hide this with a dusting of bronzer on either side for a subtle contour.”
