We’ll be straight forward with this one. Mocca has never failed to impress us no matter how many times we visit the famous coffee place that surprisingly has lip-smacking food as well. Not something a lot of coffee places have. Either the coffee is good and food is average, or the food is good and coffee is bland. Mocca has both.
We visited the newly opened phase 5, DHA branch, the location of which is ideal. Right across the phase 5 park, Mocca has a very pleasant and green view. A sight for sore eyes after a long day. Their signature off-white furniture welcomes one, promising a typical Mocca experience.
One thing that we especially admire is that the staff is extremely courteous and well mannered. They are attentive and present but do not hover around the irritating way. Also, their kitchen is immaculate. However, it isn’t an open kitchen so you can request the staff for a visit as we did. But we assure you, it is as clean as a kitchen can be.
Talking about coffee, aesthetically, it is perfect for that typical Instagram coffee post that makes one want to get one. The Mocca Dark Roast French Press that we ordered was divine; with medium body, low acidity and a strong aroma. The latte was also perfect.
Coming towards the food, we ordered Grilled Fish Snapper, Chicken Panini Sandwich and Shrimp Fettuccini in white sauce. Portions were ample of all three dishes. Apart from fettuccini, the Snapper and Panini had same sides i.e. potato wedges and green salad with whole black olives. The Grilled Fish (Snapper) was mild in taste, cooked to a nice saffron yellow. The Panini sandwich was enjoyable. Crisp on the outside and not so overflowing inside. The Fettuccini had a nice shrimpy aroma to it, however we’d have liked for the sauce to be slightly runny as it was accompanied with chunky bits of shrimp but it’s nothing that can’t be overlooked.
And now for our favorite part. The dessert. We can’t stop raving enough about their molten lava cake. Even though it wasn’t a text book molten lava, but more of a chocolate stuffed brownie with steaming melted chocolate on top accompanied with ice cream; it was still divine. The brownie was moist and went well with the chocolate on top. It was the kind where your spoon just does not stop going back for more. The lemon tart, aesthetically pleasing was soft, light and fluffy and dissolved instantly in our mouths.
Mocca in phase 5 was a complete experience. A place we’d love to go to again and take our word for it, you won’t be disappointed.
