Anushka Sharma’s much awaited horror film Pari has been banned in Pakistan today.
The news was broken by Nuplex Cinema’s and later confirmed by Mobashir Hasan, Chairman Central Board of Film Censors Islamabad.
He confirmed to Dawn News, that the reason for banning the film in Pakistan is that the film contains numerous scenes of black magic with Quranic verses and Hindu manters being recited together.
The film has been declared unfit for public exhibition first by a panel of CBFC and then by a full board which was convened on filing of an appeal by the distributor against the decision of the panel.
it is reported that the film was initially passed for screening by the Sindh and Punjab Censorboards with an adult certificate, but after the Islamabad CBFC banned the film, the decision has been reversed. The film was previously allowed to be screened after eliminating the shot exposing sexual relations between a Jinn (Ifrat), professor’s recitation of verses in the film and the dialogue stating “Meri kokh main beej dalay ga” as per Punjab Film Censor Board, Lahore.
