East covers Pan Asia

How can you ever say no to our very own Annie Chaudhry from FuchsiaMagic. She is a gem of a person and has an amazing taste for finer things in life. But this little review is not about her but about the place where she invite us, the Kluchit team and our friends for Hi Tea.

East Chinese & Thai Restaurant is second brand in food business which originally runs Tannerife café on main Jail Road. To start off with, it is one of the very few places in main Gulberg, which has ample of parking. So this should be comforting for lot of those who hate going through jammed parking and feel drained out even before entering the food place.

You cross the entrance door and are welcomed by a smiling hostess who then lead you to your table as per the number of people you are. You will find the place divided by walls into different areas which speaks loud that this place must have been abode to some nice family. The place is very chic-ly converted into a restaurant. The interior is slightly dim but it does work for a fine dine place.

As we were large in numbers, we were seated on a large table. Everyone seemed to be slightly awed by ambiance and it sure was worth it. I was served soup on the table, it was East Special soup. By visual it looked like a hybrid version of hot n sour and famous 19 B soup, but it wasted quite different from both. I was happy that someone in the kitchen broke that bond of famous soup and came up with another all time favorite soup for Lahore.

Hi Tea offered a large array of dishes with 2 exceptional out of cuisine dishes. Right in middle of all these Asian dishes, there was Alfredo Pasta and Jalapeno Chicken which are very non Asian sort. But it was not part of their menu which is understandable as at hi tea, customer do expect larger than menu variety.

Out of all the dishes for hi tea, my personal favorite was Kung Pao Fish. The first look at it and I was like this has to be good. Apart from that I tried the rice, quite flavorful and Chinese. Bite menu was crispy rolls, fried tempura Chicken and fried fish. All were exceptionally good.

Kitchen was swift in refilling the dishes with fresh food. East Chinese and Thai Restaurant must work on adding more items on their salad side. Serving fruit salad and another red colored salad will not cut it at all. Desserts too need more variety, though nobody expects them to serve Chinese or even Thai desserts but there is some excellent dessert in both Asian cuisines.

Bon Apetit at East Chinese and Thai Restaurant!!
