Many fashion designers have been resigning from their respective jobs in order to seek their creativity somewhere else. There has been some rumours going around about Khadijah Shah, creative director of Sapphire, about her leaving her job at the Fashion brand. She has had her position in the Sapphire team since 3 years.
Many people are upset with this news because Sapphire, though a very established brand of its own, will not be the same without the touch of the brilliant designer. There will be noticeable changes, may they be tiny, in the beautiful couture with its creative colours and patterns.
“Sapphire just wants to be a mass brand and they think that they can achieve this just as well without Khadijah,” explains an insider who is currently working within the local high-street.
Khadijah had also mentioned in the brand launch that she had suggested the name of the brand to be same as the mill that was backing it. The designer had been calling the brand her own for a while now, and showed how proud she was of it.
This may have been one of the reasons for her leaving the job. Big mills do not like when other people get all the credit and even at times, the profit that they get from them. But as for now, there has been no comment from Khadijah’s side about this whole story. I, personally, do think that there cannot be another person like Khadijah who can handle Sapphire as well as she did while handling her other label Elan as well.
