There has been many unfair treatments to girls in our nation by men for their “izzat”. Many treacherous crimes and injustice has been done to multiple people. First, it was Qandeel Baloch. We protested against it, thinking some change would be made and it wouldn’t happen again. Yet, it is still going on. But a very strange news caught our eye.
The reports tell us that the president of the Shuhada Foundation, Tariq Asad, petitioned the Islamabad High Court on August 7th, to ban the Miss Veet show being aired. When asked about reasons, this is what he responded:
“This product [a hair-removal cream manufactured by the sponsor] aims and advertised asking women to remove body hair to make themselves more sexually appealing to [the] opposite gender, which is fundamentally shameful and against the injunction of Shariah.”
So now, women are not supposed to whatever it is that they want to do with their OWN body?
He also mentioned how PEMRA isn’t doing anything against or to stop impudence. Then the he petitioned to ban Pakistan Idol, Voice of Pakistan, and Turkish films dubbed in Urdu.
Hold up, has no one taught this man how to simply SWITCH OFF the Tv or CHANGE the channel if he sees something that offends him or makes him uncomfortable? How does he know what happens in the show or why it is supposedly “behaya”? Been watching a couple of episodes yourself hain? If people were as butthurt as him, I think the show would be banned already. But it is still airing and going well. Why is that, you ask? Because people like it and want to watch more of it. How many more things that entertain us have to be banned just because they are a little away from the path of our culture? Men like Tariq Asad need to open their minds a little and let everyone live however they want to.
