Just when you thought that the online moral police couldn’t get any stupider, they decide to prove you wrong by doing something utterly moronic and cringe-worthy. Irfan Pathan uploaded a picture with his wife, and they both looked happy. The moral police decided to step in, because they can’t see anyone else being happy, and they proceeded to fixate on his wife’s arms. Yes. Her arms. She was wearing an abaya, and had her face covered, her sleeves lid back to reveal her wrist and part of her forearm, and people lost their minds over it.
It really is no wonder that goras make offensive ankle memes out of us, because we’re actually that dimwitted. I was honestly shocked to see how ridiculous the comments were with their bad grammar and holier-than-thou assholery. It made me want to barf, and I honestly want to shoot myself in the eyes because I can’t unsee all that cringe.
First of all, she’s an individual with common sense and free will, and what really annoyed me was how people were asking Irfan to hide his wife away. This just reinforces the toxic notion that a woman is her husband’s property, to be showcased and hidden away at will. It was just an innocent picture taken by a happy, consenting couple, and it turned into a sanctimonious, I’m-gonna-shove-my-beliefs-down-your-throat-even-though-I-don’t-really-apply-any-of-them-in-my-own-life flame war. I repeat, all because her ARMS were showing, and she was wearing NAILPOLISH. Fuck terrorism, honour killings, hate crimes and rising extremism, let us all get obsessed with a woman’s partially uncovered arms.
If you don’t believe me, see the madness for yourself.
