There exists an ice cream which does not melt!

Your childhood dream of becoming an astronaut might never be fulfilled but you can definitely eat ice cream like one.

That is the theme of Rob Collignon, founder of Gastronaut Ice Cream, whose campaign is designed to bring us astronaut-inspired, freeze-dried ice cream which guarantees to not melt all over your hands.

Gastronaut Ice Cream, comes in a bar and can be enjoyed at room temperature meaning this summer’s temperatures wouldn’t be a problem at all. It is very different from its frozen counterpart, as it breaks up in your hands. However, once you start eating it changes into the same sweet and creamy ice cream you’ve tasted your entire life. This means that you can enjoy all the benefits of ice cream without any of its negatives. An ice cream lover’s dream come true.

The recipe takes real ice cream which has been freeze-dried to preserve and dehydrates it while adding a little salt. Freeze-drying involves first freezing a food substance and then creating a powerful void before adding heat which draws out the frozen liquid from the food as vapor.

Currently, it consists of five mouth-watery flavors including Mexican Choc Chip, Mint Choc Chip, Cookies and Cream, and Peanut Butter and Chocolate Chip. A bar is available for a price of $6.
