8 Ways to Sweeten Food without Refined Sugar and Poisonous Substitutes!

Trust us; you have not tried most of these.

Let’s face it; each and every one of us has a sweet tooth. If we had everything our way, eating sugar would be a meal of its own. Alas, because of type 2 diabetes, weight gain and dental problems, this is not possible. Sugar remains just as enticing and addictive as ever and we find ourselves wanting more of something we simply cannot have.

As we’ve grown up, we’ve managed to wean ourselves out of a teaspoon less sugar in our coffee and assume we’ve conquered the world. We hate to break it to you but this is bad news for your diet nonetheless. The good news? We can provide you with healthy sugar substitutes which are all natural and are great alternatives to the poisonous white stuff.

Raw Honey

Keep in mind that this is not chemically same as sugar so substitute the amount of sugar with one third of honey!

Salt

It is unorthodox, but all you need is a pinch of salt to enhance the natural sweetness of your food!

Organic Milk or Cream

This stuff is full of lactose and we can tell you a little known secret that lactose is a source of natural sugar. These will add a hint of gentle sweetness to your soups and stews!

Grated Carrots

Who knew huh? Try adding grated carrots instead of sugar to your spaghetti sauce and be amazed.

Beetroot

One of the sweetest plants grown, so why not?

Orange Juice

To be used in salad dressings with lemon juice for that bang of flavor, acidity and sweetness, all in one!

Caramelized Onions

So onions do more than just sting your eyes? Surprise Surprise!

Maple Syrup

Who knew this can be drizzled on more than just pancakes? Not only does it taste amazing, the calorie count is lower than honey. Gimme!
