The rumors have been going around for years now but it was hard to believe that beverage manufacturers would actually go through with it. But now, the world’s first ever SELF-CHILLING can has made its debut and we definitely like what we see! Joseph Company International will inaugurate the first self-chilling can called “West Coast Chill”. It is an all-natural energy drink which will chill up to 30 degrees F when buyers press a tab on the can, decreasing the temperature of the liquid within a short span of three minutes.
So what brought about this somewhat bizarre creation? This invention has been under development for almost 18 years now. The first company to begin work on this idea was Pepsi Cola in 1998, but it backed out when it faced several environmental hazards as they used HFC143A, a harmful greenhouse gas. However, 12 years ago, this was replaced with activated carbon which made this project a go!
The details have not yet been publicly released as yet but West Coast Chill is definitely on its way to full-scale production. The first can that chills on demand, no matter where you are.
