Here are 5 common mistakes you are making during or after Iftar:
Over-filling your belly with water
Go easy on the water, as sudden intake of water is strenuous to the stomach. Keep calm and take small sips. Don’t forget to keep drinking water at regular intervals till Sehri!
Drinking jam-e-shirin or rooh afzah everyday
This is a very common mistake that we all make. These drinks contain colorants, additives and alarmingly high amounts of sugar which are harmful for our body. Reduce its usage to a maximum of 2 times a week.
Eating wildly at Iftar
Stop it with those “All you can eat” Iftar buffets if you want to stay fit!! When you are fasting, your metabolism slows down and as a result the digestion process takes more time which in turn increases chances of gaining weight. The Iftar meal is not supposed to make up for all those hours you spent without having anything to eat or drink.
Attacking the dessert immediately after Iftar
We totally understand how hard it is to stay away from desserts but this is for your own good. Have dessert at least an hour after Iftar so that you do not feel drowsy.
Exercising immediately after Iftar
We know you want to lose weight but don’t start immediately after Iftar as our entire blood flow is concentrated around the stomach at that time.
