I remember when Masoom’s- the pancake lounge had its glory days. With their desserts and coffees, it was a talk of the town. But that seems like a long time ago. Masoom’s seems to have lost its vibe and I’m surprised how it’s still running. Just the other day, a bunch of us decided to head there for some chilled environment, peace and quiet and of course their yummy Lasagna we grew up eating. Little did we know what we were getting into? There was no air conditioning at 2pm on a Lahori afternoon, something that we were willing to forgive them for but oh I wonder what they’ve done with their good old lasagna! One bite and we all looked at each other with one question on our minds: How will we finish this? It was so overpowered with black pepper that it had a sand-like texture to it. One thing we know already is that it is not fresh but microwaved; but it seemed that their microwave decided to suck up all the goodness and make it dry. Even the shreds of chicken had this creaminess to it that exists when the chicken is anything but fresh. It did taste funny in the first three to four bites with a tinge of staleness but perhaps we got used to it as we had a huge urge to just finish it and not bicker with their unfriendly management. The aftertaste was bad, imagine, eating something that tastes stale, dry and sand like. It was proved that the food really was stale when all of us got minor food poisoning the same day. Masoom’s really needs to bring the standard back up because we really miss that lasagna!
