PLBW’15 – Day 2

Day 2 featured Sana Safinaz, Fahad Hussayn, Nickie Nina, Misha Lakhani, Suffuse and The House of Kamiar Rokni. So without any further delay let’s start discussing the collections. Our favorite collection day 2 was by Sana Safinaz.

SANA SAFINAZ

This dynamic duo has established their name in our industry and their creativity cannot be challenged. The reason for that are the high standards they set for themselves. I do not remember being disappointed by them – ever. Their bridal collection this year at PLBW had it all. From saris to gowns, you name it and it was there. It was such a glamorous blend of the north and the east. The collection had a lot going on from different color pallets to silhouettes. The stunning Rabia Butt opened the show with a heavily embellished black and biscuit-gold skirt paired with a red loose asymmetrical blouse. We loved how they had used fabrics like nets and chiffons with heavy embellishments. Our team’s favorite from their collection was Fia’s grey lehnga with a medium length shirt which looked very chic.

FAHAD HUSSAYN

The first thing that comes to mind when it comes to Fahad is the drama that he always creates on the ramp. This time too he had a live musical performance by Ali Sethi. His collection was an inspiration from Chiniot’s renowned crafts and wooden carvings. The collection featured silk-thread embroideries on organza, tissue and chiffons. Also the fanciest was the metallic thread that was specially prepared for his collection for PLBW. The makeup added more color to the show.

NICKIE NINA

These elegant ladies showcased their collection Neh Shikar at the show. Their bridal collection had chiffons and nets embellished with cut work. The show was closed by the very talented Mira Sethi. Neh Shikar was one of the most creative collections ever put forward by Nickie Nina. The only problem was their uncomfortable teaser.

MISHA LAKHANI

‘Wanderlust’ was Misha’s debut bridal-couture collection which was primarily inspired by art and travel. It mainly featured a pastel color pallet with a wide range of fabrics like velvet, chiffon, brocade and kattan silk. They were all heavily embellished with pearls and marori. The silhouettes were all an east-west blend. They had pants with loose angrakhas, lehengas and saris.

SUFFUSE

PFDC introduced a new label SUFFUSE by Sana Yasir. Their collection Falaknuma made its debut on the ramp this year. The intricate detailing to their garments was instantly noticeable. The entire Kluchit Team loved the use of color and its gradations. We also loved the fringe detail on their 70s inspired flapper dresses.

THE HOUSE OF KAMIAR ROKNI

Kamiar Rokni showcased his collection ‘Alchemy’ this year at the PLBW. The collection was beautiful yet very typical of his designs. Rehana Saigol’s jewelry made the entire collection look even more glamorous. One thing that we love about The House of Kamiar Rokni is how they always use gota and always try to stay very traditional.
