Paris, the cosmopolitan capital of France, is located in the north-central part of the country. For centuries Paris has been one of the world’s most romantically beautiful and attractive cities, filled with historic associations and remaining vastly influential in the spheres of culture, art, fashion, food and design. Paris has numerous iconic landmarks, such as the world’s most visited tourist site the Eiffel Tower, the Arc de Triomphe, the Notre-Dame Cathedral, the Louvre Museum, Moulin Rouge, and Lido, making it the most popular tourist destination in the world with 45 million tourists annually.

The Arc de Triomphe stands at the center of Place de l’Étoile, the hub from which 12 grand avenues including the idyllic pedestrian mall, the Champs Élysées radiate to form the star for which the Place de l’Étoile is named. While there’s no doubt that walking the Champs Elysees is one of the most clichéd things to do in Paris, it’s still worth the stroll. From the Arc de Triomphe to the shops and attractions there is quite a bit to do. And standing at the top of the Champs Elysees to take a photo remains a tourist activity not to be missed.
There is no lack of quality chefs and foodies in Paris. In addition to the local cuisines, there are wide varieties of food available in Paris, including Indian, Chinese, Vietnamese, Thai, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Mexican and a lot of North African, particularly Moroccan. You are sure to find great places to eat and drink whatever your taste and budget may be.
Paris is one of the finest cities in the world for shopping. You can combine a day trip to the Champagne region or Disneyland Paris with a trip to two of Paris’s most popular malls, the McArthur Glen Outlet Shopping Mall and the La Vallée Village outlet mall near Euro Disney. Paris is famous for its department stores known as “Grands magasins”. You can find almost everything under one roof.
Paris is a city for art of every form, and has hundreds of art boutiques, art galleries, special art exhibits, the symphony, the ballet, cinema and the theatre. The nightlife of Paris is full of lights, street music and romance. There are super-exclusive clubs, clubs with interesting concepts, clubs for late-night revelers, and clubs that move around the city.
This busy city is also very close to nature. There are plenty of lush green gardens and central parks in Paris. The “Region Parisienne” offers open space on a grand scale and a variety of open air activities to cater for all. The Lle de France bears evidence to the richness and diversity of the French countryside and despite its proximity to a major city; the delights for nature lovers are abundant.
