Serial killers commit some of the most horrifying, gruesome act of crimes ever known. They have gained notoriety for committing the most gruesome murders that shook the world. Their murder weapon of choice may vary but the things that hold them common are extreme antisocial behavior, lack of empathy, incapable of any remorse and an abnormal form of psychological gratification. The main motive for serial killing is mostly psychological gratification ; other motives may include attention or thrill seeking.
Here’s a list of some of the most notorious serial killers from around the world!
1- Ted Bundy
Ted bundy AKA the Lady Killer, tops our list, he was one of the worst serial killer in the history of times. He loved attention. His case was one of the most prolific due to his looks and high IQ level, which he used to trick the minds of many people especially his victims. He not only murdered, but raped and kidnapped numerous of young women. Ted bundy was a necrophile, who confessed to 30 murders, other 20 murders were confirmed, but the experts believe that the final tally of women is more than 100. However his total victim count is still unknown. He committed crimes in seven different states of America during the time period of early 1970’s. Bundy got caught in 1975 at high speed chasing by Utah highway police at Pensacola, Florida, in a stolen vehicle.
Ted Bundy was finally executed by electrocution on 24 January, 1989
2- Luis Garavito
Luis Garavito also known as the beast was a Columbian serial killer and one of the deadliest in the world. Garavito would befriend young boys and lure them into isolation by offering them money, small jobs, only to torture, rape and kill them. He was a pedophile necrophiliac who confessed to raping, torturing and killing 138 boys, but the real number could exceed 400. Garavito is currently serving his sentence in a maximum-security prison in Colombia. For his own protection he is held separately from all the other prisoners. Garavito is scheduled to become eligible for parole in 2023.
3- Jack The Ripper
Jack the ripper is the name that everyone knows, but nobody till now knows his true identity. He never got caught however he is thought to not have killed after 1888 November. He was called White chapel murderer because he terrorized the neighborhood of White chapel district of London in 1888. Jack the ripper went on a killing spree by killing at least 5 prostitutes by slitting their throats and disembowels them. He mutilated the body of his female victims. Jack the ripper is one of the most deranged serial killer of all time.
4- Jeffrey Dahmer
Young animal abusers can tend to grow up to be serial killers, Jeffrey Dahmer killed neighbors’ pets, impaling an animal’s head on a stick when he was young and as an adult he became one of the most notorious serial killer. He was a sex offender, cannibal serial killer. His total victims were 17 men and boys who he murdered and dismembered their bodies. He was known to participate in the cannibalism on the boys he killed and he admitted to eating his victims and he also admitted raping their bodies after murdering them, he confessed to pouring acid inside their skulls and raping them while indisposed. Dahmer was killed by his fellow inmate in prison.
5- Harold Shipman
Harold Shipman was also known as “Dr Death” was a British doctor and a serial killer. He began working as a physician in 1970’s and he is known to kill at least 215 of his patients possibly even more than 260 by injecting them with lethal doses of painkillers between the time period of 1970- 1998.He was finally arrested in 1998, and in 2000 he was found guilty of murders later in 2004 he committed suicide.
6- Javed Iqbal
Javed Iqbal was Pakistan’s most prolific and cold blooded serial killer. Javed confessed to killing and raping of 100 children all in the time span of six months.
“I could have killed 500. This was not a problem; money was not a problem. But the pledge I had taken was of killing 100 children”
These words by the killer left everyone in shock. He claimed that his crimes were an act of revenge against the police, who accused him of sodomy. His case caught attention internationally also because he was given the sentence to die in the same manner as his victims, the judge passed sentence saying
“You will be strangled to death in front of the parents whose children you killed, your body will then be cut into 100 pieces and put in acid, the same way you killed the children.”
However before the execution he committed suicide.
7- John Wayne Gacy
John was an American serial killer and rapist, also known as the Killer Clown, because he used to perform at children parties dressed as clown. He was one of the worst serial killer in America. He confessed to murdering at least 33 young boys and buried most his victims under his house. He lured his victims by promising them construction work and then he would sexually assault, torture them, eventually strangling most of them with his hands or rope. He was given 12 death sentences and later he died by lethal injection.
