Every year, HUM Network Ltd. organizes Hum Style Awards – premiums given to stars from the entertainment and fashion industry.
Hosted on July 3rd, 2021 (Sunday), the occasion was Hum Tv’s first that took place in a physical setting since the pandemic started. Before the award show, there was a lot of hype created amongst the public. Everyone was eager to know what Hum TV had in store for their entertainment this year.
However, after the KHSA 2021, people including celebrities don’t seem too happy. While on one hand some criticized the choice of hosts, on the other hand, a few celebrities had something to say about the choice of wardrobe. The dressing sense of majority of the celebrities at the KHSA has been weird to say the least. Even though, we appreciate a unique sense of style, there were a few wardrobe choices that received more criticism than anticipated.
Seemi Raheel, Bilal Qureshi and Faizan Sheikh express their disapproval
Seemi Raheel, Bilal Qureshi and Faizan Sheikh did not seem happy with the wardrobe choices at all. On his Instagram story, Bilal Qureshi highlighted the fact that women don’t need to wear revealing dresses to look beautiful as they already are!
Seemi Raheel on the other hand wanted to know what is wrong with wearing cultural attire and why our ladies always turn to ‘fracks’ (frocks)
Not just that, Faizan Sheikh went on and posted “NOT ONE STAND OUT STYLE ON THE FAMOUS STYLE AWARDS?”
Arij Fatima Jafri voices out her opinion
It seems that Arij Fatima Jafri also wasn’t in support of their style as she expressed her opinion with a hashtag #CAREABOUTYOURYOUTH
Meesha Shafi was irked by Hum TV’s choice of host
While celebrities were expressing their displeasure regarding the selection of clothing, Meesha chose something else to talk about. She called out Hum TV for their poor management and choice of host.
“Dum Style Awards: You Celebrate/Award/Defend And Support Harassers”, she said.
She also didn’t hold back from voicing out her dislike for Ali Zafar and said “But shouldn’t ‘style’ awards at least try to find someone with style to host their show?”
Where there was a lot of bashing and calling out, a few celebrities stood up for the ones facing the backlash due to their fashion sense at KHSA.
Mathira defends her fellow celebrities
Mathira blatantly and explicitly showed her support to celebrities who received hate. She posted “Why are people bashing peoples’ style statements? Let the women dress how they want. That’s her body, her choice. She should feel happy with what she wears and that’s what matters!”
Armeena Khan comes to the rescue of her fellow female actresses
Armeena Khan replied to a troll who criticized the female Pakistani actresses for their revealing dresses at KHSA.
“Better than watching po*n at night and doing tableegh during the day mate. Wolves in sheep’s clothing.”
Our Thoughts
This year’s Kashmir Hum Style Awards has been a 50-50 as it did receive the public attention but not really in a positive way. We strongly believe in freedom of choice for everybody. Though, the event would have been a total hit if the stars had incorporated their love for western style in their cultural wardrobe. Because they are the representatives of our country’s culture, people expect them to dress accordingly.
Only a handful celebrities were seen that could pass as decent. To be blatantly honest, it was an event giving tribute to style with poorly stitched clothes, cheap fabric gowns, revealing outfits and non-inclusivity of Pakistan’s cultural attire.
