Our Lady In White : How Mahira Khan Owns It

Mahira Khan is the star child of the generation, and her star has been rising ever since she came onto the public scene. The VJ turned actress turned fashion icon is perhaps beloved to the public for having a unique look, essence and style that keeps us enchanted.

There is something special about her.

Is it the way she carries herself? The way she speaks or the body of work she has provided over the years? From being the quiet but strong willed Khirad in the famous Humsafar, the hurt Sara in Verna, the ambitious Noor in Superstar, the vain Falak in Shehr-e-zaat and the hopelessly in love Shanno in Sadqay Tumhare.

There has to be something there. And we see even if we can’t name it.

Perhaps it’s all of them together, Mahira Khan has come along way, and see her as well-raised, socialite with all the class in the world who keeps growing on us and enchanting the world with her beauty.

The Color White

White is more a symbol than a color. It’s innocent, a statement and is easy on the eyes and we tend to give our meaning to it based on how we feel.

And all over the world cultures have a sacred meaning or emotion attached to the color white. It stands for justice, beauty, hope and innocence. And every color can be bleached out until only the sheen and satin of white remains on the pavements. White is the clouds and white is the snow, it what we wish to keep and what wish to impeach with vibrancy.

White is the color for brides all over the world, in contrast to red which our tradition in Pakistan and South Asia alike.

And we have our rising and grand starlet who has made a color in all its shades a part of her public image.

Even her breakthrough character Khirad from Humsafar had her glowing in white.

And as I remember everyone wanted the white dress she wore.

She wears white in with a brightness and glitter, and it’s rarely ever dull. Her make-up is also light and doesn’t feel heavy or extra and her hair is let down so she looks effortless , relaxed and easy.

There is natural and it’s often under the shadow of  the golden hour time frame.

The overall image turns out to be her signature look and photo-shoot.

And the huge canvas of white does make room for a dash of gold, lavender and blush pink, but overall the shimmer of white reigns supreme.

White may be her best color and it may be her favorite.

But it doesn’t stop her from being dynamic in red like in her big dance sequence in Parey hut love.
