Aziz Bhatti Shaheed is man remembered for his excellence, greatness and bravery . He was at the top of his class in the army and held strongly onto his principles and in due time came to be known as the ‘protector of Lahore’.
Up to the very end of his life he showed bravery and came to embody a lifestyle that was dedicated to serving others and his country.
Collectively, Pakistani people have showered him and his memory in love and respect. We’ve seen his portrait everywhere, and we’ve all heard his story and in the sea of people who have given their comfort and lives for the country, he still stands out.
That is not to put one hero over the other, it’s just how we have remembered him and loved him.
It puts into question how do we remember or treat our heroes, and why is it important to even remember them? It is perhaps now important to also humanize them and come to see them as people who made a difference and sacrifice for something bigger than them. Their story does not stay with them, and they become a part of our lives, in a way that is endearing and justified.
Aziz Bhatti Shaheed : My Brother My Hero
This year the brother of the beloved hero, published a book about their growing up together, Aziz Bhatti’s personality and life without him and the impact he had on the world.
Sardar Bhatti really wrote something that the universe owed a man of Aziz Bhatti’s caliber, something both personal and loving. This book will allow his person and legacy to be more tangible and accessible for generations to come.
It really is a labor of love and testament to brotherhood, a message we hope reaches every Pakistani.
Sardar Bhatti himself lives in his ancestral village where he has opened a school for the local girls, again showing that this family has a long legacy of service for the nation.
