On a rather hot and humid day, light rainfall the Kluchit team was present in a garden, in Qaddafi stadium.
We were there for a plantation drive organized and funded by an organization dedicated to protect and promote green visions in Pakistan – rightfully named Hara Bhara Pakistan.
It was a nice event overall, as plenty of people were involved in the cause for a greener Pakistan, came to provide aid and support. Some schools and organizations even brought along their young students who took part in learning about the importance of planting and taking care 0f their country.
It was nice that everyone got their hands dirty for such a good cause, because a crowded city like Lahore, which was once known for its gardens and pastoral beauty, needs all the planned and protected plantation drives it can get.
What does Hara Bhara Pakistan do ?
Hara Bhara Pakistan is a volunteer run organization, inspired by the vision of Imran Khan, who brought the need for planting trees into main stream political and social discussions.
Hara Bhara Pakitsan nurses indigenous tree and plant samplings and upon getting donations and ensuring care for those samplings, has them planted in different location.
They have already had 85 events and planted over 75,000 plants.
What Happened at the event?
The event brought together volunteers, guests and young students, so they could all be involved in the planting of 25 young samplings in the garden area outside the hockey stadium.
Our special guests included PHA chairperson Yasir Gillani, and the director of the board of education Shafqat Mehmood.
This event in particular was sponsored by Pepsi co, Meezan Bank and Shakarganj foods.
The students who joined us, all eager and energetic, were from the Agha Khan schools.
The special guests made speeches about the dire need for Pakistanis to do as much as they can to protect and plant trees and plan a more eco-friendly lifestyle and existence. This has to be achieved by commitment and excessive planting and management of resources.
So it was good that all those people and children were there to learn about all of this and get into the habit of taking care of the environment.
