One thing is for sure, Teefa is definitely not in trouble. Amidst the protests that honestly, were a little too much, Teefa defied the odds and earned around 20 corores Internationally.
Even though there were a lot of other options at the movies, i was especially compelled to watch Teefa in Trouble because of the flawless movie trailer and the guarantee Ali and Maya gave in an interview that we did 2 weeks before the movie release.
Check out the interview here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sFM7BSHkZRM
It often happens that the best work is shown the trailer, leaving the movie with nothing but repeated jokes. However, Teefa did the opposite of that and the Punjabi Jugats left us roaring with laughter in our seats.
A short version of the plot is that Teefa, a dear “kaam anay wala friend” of the Butt family, goes to Poland to bring Anya to Pakistan to marry gangster Butt’s son but gets into trouble with Anya’s gangster father and the police. While on the mission, he falls in love with Anya.
Even though the plot sounds a little cliched to some extent, it still manages to keep the audience on the edge of their seats. The funniest part about the film is definitely the Butt family with their androon shehar dialect. One scene that substanitally stood out was when an antagonist asked him to speall out the word “Serious” and he did so in the most funny way possible.
One thing is clear though, that Ali Zafar is definitely the “star” of the film. His acting is super meritorious and he stood out from among all the cast. On the other hand, as pretty as Maya looked on screen, her dialogue delivery needed a little more work as she made it hard for us to believe that she’d been brought up in Poland. Her word pronunciation somewhat needed some more work. But she still did a GREAT job.
The funny sidekick Tony Shah played by Faisal Qureshi was also handsdown perfect. He was funny without trying too hard and we are in love with his fashion sense!
Overall, the movie has it all. Drama, romance, comedy, culture and action. The cinematography is beyond perfect and the soundtracks made us download the track right away to play them on loud volume on the way back from the movie.
That is clearly a sign of it being a hit film!
Ali Zafar has unquestonably proved himself in his debut film in Pakistan, along with his supporting cast which includes Maya Ali, Faisal Qureshi, Javed Sheikh, Mehmood Aslam, Nayyer Ejaz, Simi Raheel, Mah-e-noor Haider and Marhoom Ahmed Bilal.
If it were to me, i’d watch it again!
