Kim Kardashian showed up on her first Indian magazine cover and pictures from the photoshoot have been circulating on the web. The reality TV star and business tycoon got featured in an Anita Dongre gathering for the March issue of Vogue India.
Kim talked about her adoration for Indian garments in an interview she gave. “The saris, the gems, the clothes—everything was so beautiful!” she said. Her look was styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania along with photos by Greg Swales.
Vogue India and Kardashian shared pictures from the shoot on Instagram. “Instagram eminence Kim Kardashian West (@kimkardashian) has a dream minute in our #March 2018 issue!” the post was subtitled.
Where she got so much love, many Indians had problems with Vogue and Kim for this specific shoot. They were of the view that an Indian brown model should have embraced the cover rather than a ‘white’ woman. One even accused Vogue India of ‘perpetuating a detrimental cycle of underrepresentation’, and stated, “Stop white washing your own damn culture”
A few defended Vogue India by stating that the magazine only uses international models once in a blue moon. Vogue India faced a similar backlash a few months ago when they featured Kim’s half sister, Kendal Jenner on the cover.
We think Kim does total justice to the lehnga and gives us all goals. She effortlessly pulled it off, giving us desis a run for our money. Oh Kim! Is there something you can’t do?
