Coke Studio 10 is kicking off on the 14th of August. The upcoming season marks 10 years of musical excellence for Coke Studio. While some people welcomed Coke Studio as a refreshing addition to the otherwise stagnant music industry in Pakistan, others figured it was the only way to make money in this industry and decided to jump on the bandwagon, though not as successfully.
Coke Studio is more than just a music show, it’s actually become a solid representation of Pakistani music in other countries. It would be safe to say that Coke Studio has more or less figured out the formula for success, since it’s managed to survive 10 years in an industry where nothing is constant. Over the years, the success of the music and film industry has fluctuated considerably, however, Coke Studio is just as popular as ever.
While Coke Studio’s success hasn’t dwindled significantly, nothing lasts forever, and while I understand why they choose seasoned artists over fresher talent, they will eventually have to incorporate newer artists at one point or another.
