Where to find affordable chokers in Lahore

Chokers are all the rage these days, and everyone wants one. Clothing stores in Pakistan have jumped on the bandwagon by carrying chokers in a variety of styles, colours and finishes. Here’s the hits and misses of the chokers I found in popular clothing stores.

Outfitters:

Outfitters stocks trendy clothes, shoes and accessories. While they don’t have a huge variety of chokers available, the ones that they do stock look pretty good and are relatively inexpensive. A pack of 3 chokers will run you Rs 560, so even if you happen to lose them or break them, it won’t hurt your wallet. Their pack of chokers also makes a great gift/gift basket stuffer that you can pair with something more valuable.

Limelight:

Limelight has been the go-to store for affordable Shaadi-wear, but they also happen to stock amazing bags and jewelry. They have a large variety of good quality chokers priced between Rs.250-400, which is pretty inexpensive for a piece of jewelry, especially one that’s a huge trend right now. You’ll find chokers for everyday wear to fancier ones to go with a formal dress.

Splash:

Splash is an international chain of stores that is on top of every emerging trend. While their jewelry department is a bit sparse, I actually liked their chokers. The chokers are a bit on the pricey side, ranging from Rs 700-990 per choker, however, they’re actually good quality and use luxurious materials such as leather. They’re also larger in size compared to cheaper chokers, which somewhat justifies the price point.

Tesoro:

I haven’t come across any casual/everyday wear chokers at Tesoro, however they do stock heavily embellished ‘bridal’ ones that are everything a girl needs to bedazzle her outfit. The chokers range from Rs 1500-5000, while you don’t necessarily need chokers that expensive, they’re worth the price since they’re made of crystals and almost look like actual expensive jewelry. So if you’re into blingy, imitation stuff, Tesoro is the way to go.

Almas:

Lastly, we’ve got Almas, which turned out to be a huge disappointment for me. To start with, the chokers don’t have any ‘packaging’, no plastic cover, absolutely nothing, they’re just handed to you in a shopping bag. Secondly, there’s nothing unique about them, nor do they have a staggering variety, and I’m pretty sure you could find something similar in the stores I’ve mentioned above for much cheaper. A single, normal sized choker made of a strip of cloth with a circle on it is priced at Rs 790, which really doesn’t seem like a good deal to me. Since the choker is flimsy and ordinary, I really don’t feel particularly motivated to spend my hard-earned cash on it. Don’t get me wrong, I love splurging on jewelry, but only as long as it seems like the purchase would be worth it.

If you’re looking to get something very affordable, or something slightly high-end, you’re sure to find it in all except one of the stores mentioned above. If you’re getting chokers for the sake of following a trend, go for the cheaper options, since you won’t regret spending money on them once they go out of style.
