After basically disappearing from the face of the earth, Sahir Lodhi made another moronic comeback by openly bashing an unsuspecting girl on national TV. As if his movie wasn’t cringe inducing enough, his television antics continue to reinforce his stupidity and perpetual state of unawareness. This girl was just reading some poetry outlining the plight of women in Pakistan, which cited numerous issues, that plague our society such as honor killings, acid throwing and discrimination, and Sahir Lodhi decides to cut her off mid-sentence and goes into some weird place inside his mind where nothing makes bloody sense.
He started rambling on about Quaid-e-Azam and how the audience and the girl had disrespected him, when all she’d done was employ the literary art of apostrophe, which is talking to someone or something that isn’t there, in this case, Quaid-e-Azam. She was indirectly admonishing the present state of sorry affairs, and basically shaming everyone who had a hand in destroying Quaid’s Pakistan, which was supposed to be a place of hope, tolerance and prosperity.
Well, Sahir Lodhi evidently wasn’t paying attention, which is why he took it the wrong way and went on to deliver a senseless speech about Pakistan’s history and such, all of which had no remote relation to the girl’s poetry. She sat there, dazed and confused, about whatever the hell was going on. What’s even worse was that he shut up for a blessed second and reassessed everything, realized he was being an idiot, and decided to apologize to everyone. Not that the apology made much sense, but hey, he gets points for trying. He still stuck to his guns by saying something along the lines of, “I’m sorry, lekin mein Quaid-e-Azam ke baray mein kuch nahi bardasht kar sakta.” Like when a douchebag says he’s sorry for cheating on you, but he’ll do anything and everything to avoid taking any sort of responsibility for his stupid actions.
Being on national television in front of a live audience is a responsibility in itself. You have to keep your emotions under control, for the sake of professionalism, if nothing else, and be on your best behaviour, but unfortunately, this little bit of information is lost on most Pakistani hosts/anchors/TV personalities, including Sahir Lodhi. They fail to realize that their actions have consequences, and that their antics in front of thousands of people shape their credibility. You can’t just throw a tantrum on a live TV show and expect everyone to be okay with it. And you especially cannot disrespect an artist that YOU invited to your show, and then proceed to diss their art. If an attempt at basic mannerisms seems too great a feat for you, at least try to listen to what the people on YOUR show are talking about, so you don’t end up looking like a clueless attention hoarder.
^Yeah right. Dream on!
