If you think eyeliner is meant to be used on the eyes alone, think again. Gel eyeliner can be used in a number of different ways, ranging from lipstick to contour. Here’s a few things that you can do with eyeliner.
Eyeshadow base:
Ever had your eyeshadow show up patchy? Instead of investing in an expensive eye primer, go for a gel eyeliner or pencil as an eyeshadow base and your eye makeup is sure to last through a night of wild partying. This tip is especially helpful for a classic black smokey eye, which can get patchy since it’s hard to find a pigmented black eyeshadow. If you want the colours to pop, get your hands on a white gel liner.
Contour:
Cream contour can get muddy after a while, especially if you have oily skin. Use a brown gel liner with grey undertones to get the perfect contour that won’t budge or slide around throughout the day. You’ll have to work with it quickly to avoid the product from drying too quickly, and using a makeup sponge is a must.
Face paint/theatrical makeup:
It’s hard to come across skin-friendly, non-toxic face paints in Pakistan, and if you do happen to find them, they’re ridiculously expensive. Using gel liner in lieu of face paint is a great idea, since it won’t ruin your skin while giving you great pigmentation and control, since gel eyeliner has a consistency that’s easy to work with. It’s also easier to finesse and clean up, all you need is a qtip and some makeup remover. If you’re feeling particularly daring, it can also double as black lipstick.
These are just a few more things that you can do with gel eyeliner. They’re pigmented, smudge-proof and vibrant, so the only limit is your creativity.
