Life saving summer make-up tips you really need to follow so you don’t end up looking like a melted candle

Summer in Pakistan is relentless and unforgiving, and it will pour the hours you spent perfecting your makeup down the drain. However, there are things you can do to minimise the destruction wreaked by humidity on your carefully crafted face. Here’s a few makeup tips to help your makeup stand up to the oppressive Pakistani heat.

Less is more:

You heard that right. Sometimes, less is more. You don’t have to walk out your house with a full face of makeup on, especially during the summers when everything is humid and sticky. The more makeup you wear on your skin, the more you sweat, so it’s best to have a lighter hand when applying foundation. Go for a tinted moisturiser, or make your own by mixing an oil control moisturiser with a matte foundation such as L’Oréal’s Infallible Pro-Matte 24HR Foundation to minimise shine, this way you can control the amount of coverage you want.

Use waterproof mascara:

This one is pretty obvious, but a lot of people tend to overlook it nonetheless. Using a waterproof mascara will keep your eyes from becoming dark and smudgy throughout the day, regardless of whether you sweat or cry. No ones likes racoon eyes, except Avril Lavigne, maybe, but if that’s what you’re going for, stick to regular mascara.

Use a shine-control primer:

A lot of people suffer from the curse of the oily skin during the summers, and this leads them to think that they don’t need to moisturise their skin. Your skin produces oil to protect yourself and to compensate for dryness. Basically, your skin is oily because it’s dry, I know it doesn’t make sense, but it’s true, which is why you need to moisturise regularly in the summer. Using a shine control moisturiser or primer on a regular basis is guaranteed to bring the shine down.

Ditch creamy lipstick:

Yes, lipgloss looks great, but it can get unbelievably sticky and runny in the heat. Lip tint is all the rage nowadays, so as opposed to swiping on a creamy, full coverage lipstick, go for a lip tint, liquid lipstick, or put some bright lipstick on your lip and distribute it all over for a ‘popsicle lips’ sort of look.

Set your makeup:

A good makeup setting spray is your new best friend. Spritzing some on your face after completing your look will keep it in place and will prevent it from melting off of your skin while keeping your skin matte and shine-free. Invest in one, it’s worth it.

Incorporating these products/steps in your makeup routine is definitely to make it last longer while keeping you shine-free for at least a few hours.
