Attendees from Islamabad Government and Uber in a meeting on 27th April 2017, decided to make Islamabad and Rawalpindi the newest members of the Uber’s global network to facilitate the residents and the growing market in the twin cities.
Uber has been providing safe, reliable transportation to everyone at a reasonable rate on just a click of the button. Hence, also reducing the problem of car congestion in areas with heavy traffic.
Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capt. Mushtaq Ahmad and Secretary Islamabad Transport Authority Mr. Syed Jawad Muzaffar were attendees from the Islamabad Government whereas attendees from Uber included Head of Middle East and Africa Mr. Anthony Le Roux, General Manager Uber Pakistan Mr. Safee Shah, Policy Head Mr. Ghassan Haddad, and Strategy and Planning Manager Mr. Matthew Reed. They discussed the phenomenal feedback they received from Lahore and Karachi, where Uber is currently operating and decided to expand the service to other cities of Pakistan – not just for the riders but the drivers as well.
GM Uber Pakistan, Mr Safee Shah said, “We have set the standard for connecting people to world-class transport at the touch of a button, moving millions of people every day. Our service complements existing transport infrastructure and we look forward to continuing to work with government officials and other local entities on providing transport that would lead to less congestion and better cities”.
Commenting on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad Capt. (R) Mushtaq Ahmad said, “We are very excited to have Uber in Islamabad, and for residents of the city to have access to the technology. We were delighted to meet with Uber’s management and to discuss the impact the technology has on both riders and drivers, from convenient transport to economic opportunities.”
