Caaaaalm down people. I know that the thought of your favorite childhood star entering your faith is really comforting in some way, however, it is not exactly true in Lindsay Lohan’s case—yet.
“LINDSAY LOHAN MAY HAVE CONVERTED TO ISLAM. BECAUSE OF COURSE” blared a headline from the Daily Beast, pointing to some curious evidence via Linday’s Instagram account. Instead of a heady mix of #sponcon and photos shot from the prow of a yacht in Corfu, the entire page has been scrubbed and her Instagram bio read “Alaikum salam”. Muslims all over the world were quick to rejoice and congratulate her on her conversation to Islam despite the fact that she hadn’t exactly stated that she had or was converting.
Lohan has indeed shown an interest in Islam for some time. Back in April, her rep confirmed that she was exploring the religion after she told The Sun she was reading the Quran.
When appearing on the Turkish talk show Haber Turk later year, she explained that the book was actually just a gift from some friends. “My very close friends, who have been there for me a lot, in London are Saudi and they gave me the Quran and I brought it to New York because I was learning,” said Lohan.
“It opened doors for me to experience spiritually, to find another true meaning. This is who I am”.
Because of the interest she has previously shown in the religion, it was easy for most of us to immediately believe that she had actually converted. However, the rumor was soon clarified by Dina Lohan, Lindsay’s mother, who stated that even though the message sparked conversion rumors, her famous daughter was simply taking a break for social media and opted to post a message in Arabic. So we will have to save our congratulations for later—ya know, just in case.
