Hum TV has been doing phenomenal work for a long time now and we can be nothing but proud of them. But these days, a few dramas being aired at prime time are leaving a question mark on the plot, story line and scripts of these dramas.
Looks like the writers went short on ideas and decided to apply the same story in their most watched dramas. Where Hum TV has been number 1 in trying to bring women out of the typical rona dhona roles, bringing forward empowerment dramas too, we cannot help but be disappointed at this particular strategy they’ve applied.
We’ll cut to the point now. 3, if not more, dramas are being aired on HUM TV which show that the heroine of the drama is all set to marry/live with a man who is already engaged.
1. Bin Roye
Some say, to make the Bin Roye drama was highly unnecessary and uncalled for after the film. For people who haven’t seen the drama, the story is a saga of obsession in love that develops jealousy and rivalry between two girls for one perfect match. Saba(Mahira) loves Murtaza (Humayun Saeed) but Murtaza loves and marries Saba’s sister, Saman (Armeena Rana Khan). Saba curses for her to die which she ultimately does and then out of guilt marries someone who tells her he is married with a child on their wedding night. Even though he says he has no interest in Saba and wants to divorce her, she begs him not to and that she is okay with living all her life with her mother in law.
The fact that she decides to stay with her least bothered husband who lives in America while she plays the role of a perfect bahu is definitely cringe worthy.
2. Sanam
With our favorite couple, Maya Khan and Osman Khalid Butt in the drama, we thought nothing would go wrong. But the cringe worthiness appeared here too! Sanam is drama of a boy named Harib(Osman) who marries his best friend Ayla(Hareem Farooq) and is stupid enough to tell her about his ex-girlfriend with whom he was in a relationship for a good number of years. Being psychotic that she is, Ayla goes crazy and accuses Harib of being involved with his neighbor Aan (Maya) who is just a friendly neighbor. Meanwhile his ex-girlfriend comes into the picture and the whole drama becomes a khichdi! Skipping forward, Aan is all set to marry a man whom she KNOWS is married and is after her money! But since mommy dear will get another heart attack if the forsaken rishta gets broken, she decides to zip her lips and go through with the marriage, being the perfect shareef, khamosh, farma bardar daughter the dramas aim to portray. Point is, silly lady, wouldn’t your mum have a bigger heart attack WHEN you get married to him only to find out he is married and even unwilling to marry? Jeez!
3. Dil Banjara
This drama is perhaps the biggest disappointment of them all for all the right reasons. We are still pondering over the fact why Sanam Saeed, a remarkable actress agreed to do this one and even more disappointed with Meera Sethi for playing such a desperate girl. She honestly makes me want to throw away the television set. Even though the cast consists of top amazing actors, the script and dialogue delivery is so weak it just makes one shudder. Even the beautiful Nepal couldn’t help this Drama become somewhat bearable.
But again, Nida( Sanam Saeed) is all set to marry her bachpan ka mangaitar (childhood fiancé), even though he is married, just because her family will get hurt if they find out. I mean why even?!?!
And the worst part is, all the girls in the drama know and decide to hide it from their families. Do they have no idea HOW FRUSTRATING THIS IS TO WATCH?!
We are still trying to figure out what Hum TV is trying to promote by showing the same thing in all 3 dramas which get aired on Sunday, Monday and Friday respectively. If anyone else knows, please enlighten us!
Meanwhile, get a grip writers!
