This is how clothing colors affect our mood!

“Colors, like features, follow the changes of the emotions”, said Pablo Picasso, a man who obviously knows colors better than anyone else. Recent research shows that colors have more of an effect on us than we actually realize. For example, do you feel anxious in a yellow room? Does blue make you feel calm? It probably does without you even realizing it!

While perceptions of color are somewhat subjective, there are some colors that have a generally common effect. Warm colors, such as red, orange and yellow tend to evoke emotions ranging from feelings of warmth and comfort to feelings of anger and hostility.

On the other hand, colors on the blue side of the spectrum are known as cool colors and include blue, purple and green. These colors are often described as calm, but can also call to mind feelings of sadness or indifference.

So luckily for you, we have gathered a few tips on how to use colors to harness your emotions:

Red

Red is a good choice when you want to stir up excitement.  As the most intense color, wearing red will pump up your adrenaline—making you come off as energetic and confident.  It is the perfect color to wear on a date. *wink wink*

Yellow

Sunny shades of yellow are the perfect thing to cheer you up on a bad day, so if you’re feeling down, wearing yellow could help perk you back up. Yellow is also associated with intelligence and inspiration, so wearing something yellow on the day of your big final exam might help you come up with some extra answers. However, do not overdo it because it might make you feel jumpy and anxious.

Green

Because of its association with nature, green is seen as a soothing and refreshing color. Wearing green will help you feel relaxed and also reduces stress; hence, adding a bit of green to your outfit is always a good idea!

Blue

Blue is a color that can be peaceful, calming and cold. If you’re feeling really stressed out, the color blue can help you feel relaxed. If you’re sad, however, you might want to steer away because it can subconsciously make you feel more “blue.”

Black

If you intentionally want to come off as aggressive, black is your color! It is said to evoke sentiments of hostility, as suggested by researchers who analyzed statistics from more than 52,000 National Hockey League games and concluded that teams were penalized more for animosity while wearing black jerseys rather than white. Other than that it also signifies power and authority.

White

Missing summer on a cold spring day? Wear white! It reflects light and reminds us of sunnier days. It’s also associated with peace, innocence, simplicity, and cleanliness.

I know that the thought of having a certain amount of control over your emotions makes you feel ecstatic; so it is high time to rearrange your wardrobe and live a colorful life at last!
