With the recent surge in the popularity of apps like Whatsapp, Instagram and Snapchat, the average person is finding it harder to remember the various shortcuts associated with each app. If you’re a frequent Snapchat user, you probably have to put up with the less-than user-friendly interface of this particular app. Many of its features are not obvious to the amateur eye. Therefore, we’ve compiled a list of some of the tricks you should know about, especially if you are a frequent traveller who loves sharing their travel diaries with those who are near and dear.
1. Combining up to three filters in a single picture
- Take a regular picture.
- Swipe left, and choose the first filter.
- Once chosen, keep your thumb anywhere on the screen and lock the first filter in place.
- Use your other hand to swipe through the other filters.
- Choose your second filter, and lift your thumb off momentarily before holding it down again.
- Now select the third filter.
2. Getting around the 10-second time limit of Snapchat videos
- Begin recording a video.
- Double-tap your home screen button.
- When done, just tap the Snapchat icon and return to the app.
3. Travel Mode on Snapchat
That’s right; there is a specialized travel feature on Snapchat. It saves data and battery life. Here’s how you activate it:
- Open Snapchat.
- Tap the gear icon.
- Go to ‘Additional Services’, and tap ‘Manage’.
- Enable Travel Mode.
4. Adding music to your videos
- Play the song of choice on any music app (such as Spotify or iTunes).
- Begin recording a video on Snapchat in the regular way.
- The video recorded will automatically incorporate the song into your video. What a way to add oomph to your memories!
5. Pinning emojis to objects in videos
- After recording the video, tap on the folded paper icon on the top of the screen.
- Select the emoji you want, tap on it, then add it to your photo.
- Hold it in place over the object you want to pin it to.
So now that you know how to get around Snapchat, we hope you make the best of your experience!
