Barcelos – The one who couldn’t keep up with Nando’s.

The Nando’s/Barcelos debate took place at the Kluchit common room a gazillion times which mostly included me against all the other hyped-up team, yet I did not give up on Barcelos because well…I liked it! Surprise Surprise! My reasons were that it was relatively cheap and greater in quantity. While the flavor differed, it wasn’t all that bad; to me at least. Oh, and the drinks were bottomless which was a huge plus point. But alas! Barcelos didn’t feel the same way about my feelings towards it and decided to prove me wrong in front of my colleagues. Boo Hoo!

Taking my colleagues as a sample, it’s pretty clear that Nando’s has more fans and that Barcelos is just trying to copy it. They have tried to blatantly copy the entire menu yet they have failed miserably in their bid to keep up with them. Let alone keeping up, it’s as if they are desperately trying to lose on purpose.

Unfortunately, their Peri Peri sauce has gone really thin. It nearly has the same consistency as that of water, which obviously ruined the taste and made us order salt to kick in SOME acidity so we could actually taste something. Sounds like a case of milawat gone wrong! Also, the rice they serve tastes like rubber. Seriously. And they’ve ended the bottomless drinks by replacing them with regular glasses. Now, we all know how spicy Peri Peri chicken tends to get and if we don’t have an unlimited supple of drinks to wash it down, then God help us.

The food may be bad but the staff on the other hand is quite pleasant. But then again, food > staff.

So today, I’ll admit… Nando’s is much better than Barcelos (even if it is poor quantity wise).
