The rivalry of the 2 metropolitan cities, Karachi and Lahore, is not limited to just one particular aspect but it includes everything from food to fashion. The quadruple zillion gold coin question has been, is Nihari better in Karachi or in Lahore? Has Karachi got better pizza joints or does Lahore?
We, Team Kluchit, just started pondering on it. Which is better? That is if, one is better than the other. Karachi fashion has no boundaries to it. From shorts to skirts, and from high heels to flip flops, whether you are talking about the high end malls like Dolmen, or the infinite number of shops near Tariq road, you find everyone buying everything. Somehow, it seems that the Karachiites have grown out of criticizing who is wearing what, and they would now rather focus on whether something is looking good or not. Unfortunately, the same can not be said for Lahore. Lahories are mostly just simply caught up in the dilemma of what’s in and what’s out irrespective of whether it looks nice or not.
Courtesy of contrasting lifestyles, Karachi being more fast-paced as compared to Lahore, Karachites tend to choose comfort and utility over trend whereas Lahore is more into being trendy and fashionable rather than the comfort. This particular finding does not apply to every single individual but it does reflect the general trends. We see that Lahore fashion is a lot more colorful whereas the attitude in Karachi is more like “everything goes”. Take a trip down Tariq Road, Karachi and to Liberty Market, Lahore on any given day and see for yourself.
