Upcycling is a new trend which has been spreading like a conflagration. Instead of tossing away their old crockery, people are reusing them for fun DIY projects that have an air of quirkiness and originality to them. So don’t toss away your old mismatched china plates just yet….
Plates and platters for mirrors or picture frames:
This is a very easy DIY project that can turn an old plate into a chic picture frame or mirror. It would go along perfectly with a rustic themed interior.
Supplies:
- A plate
- Glue
- Pictures or a mirror which fits the center of the plate
Instructions:
Get a clean, dry plate (preferably one with pretty patterns on the sides) and some photographs or a mirror. Put some glue on the center part of the plate and stick the pictures on. Marvel over your exquisite creation.
Old teapot for a windchime:
This adorable DIY windchime is sure to grab some serious attention! And it’s a cinch to make too. Dazzle your visitors with its brilliance by hanging it at your main entrance.
Supplies:
- Strong cord or ribbon
- Bells and charms
- An old teapot
Instructions:
Tie the bells to a cord and loop it through the pout of the teapot to create the illusion of bells pouring out. Tie some cord around the handle of the teapot, and use it to hang your windchime wherever you fancy (Pretty easy, no?).
Old jars as mini flowerpots:
Keep those old jars! Of course you can use them to store your ‘masalas’ and what not, but if you’ve still got a few more on hand, use them for this awesome DIY idea. These mini flowerpots would look great on your window sill and are perfect for growing those herbs that you always wanted.
Supplies:
- An old jar
- Paint, glitter etc (for decoration)
- Soil
- Herbs
Instructions:
Turn that old jar into a home accessory by painting in on the inside. If you want to be even fancier, spray it with clear acrylic spray and toss in some glitter and shake the jar, thus covering the whole jar on the inside. Scoop some soil into it and plant the herbs. Show off your mini herb garden!
