Liquid Nitrogen Party Tricks!

The most common uses of nitrogen include flash freezing and preservation. Liquid nitrogen makes for some fun party tricks that are sure to wow everyone. Although these tricks are very simple and do not require any fancy equipment, liquid nitrogen should always be handled carefully and stored in an appropriate container.

Futuristic Ice-Cream:

You can transform plain old ice cream into a futuristic treat with liquid nitrogen. All you need is a tub of ice cream, preferably one that has at least two flavors, and a bowl filled with liquid nitrogen.

Leave the tub of ice cream outside for some time so it melts. Begin by pouring droplets of the melting ice cream into the nitrogen filled bowl and watch in awe as they begin to sizzle and freeze, turning into hail-like balls. Once you have made the required number of balls, scoop them out and serve with a drizzle of chocolate sauce. If you are feeling a little funky you could pour the melted ice cream like a pretzel and make ice cream pretzels!

Chill Pills:

These awesome chill pills are sure to be all the rage and they are incredibly simple to make too! All you need are mini marshmallows and liquid nitrogen. Assemble the mini marshmallows in a bowl and drizzle with liquid nitrogen. The marshmallows will flash freeze, so you should wait for at least 30 seconds before popping them in your mouth. These sub-zero marshmallows enable you to literally ‘see’ the air coming out of your lungs when you exhale, but they are definitely safe to eat.

Party Noise Makers:

This neat trick will surely impress (or annoy) your guests. Blowing noise makers at parties is fun, but it can get tiring which is why you could use liquid nitrogen to save yourself the trouble. Grab a few glass bottles with narrow necks and pour liquid nitrogen in them till they are around a quarter full. Follow with a splash of hot water, and attach the noisemakers to the neck of every bottleusing glue or tape. The end result will be a typical and nostalgic ‘pweeee’ sound (that would drive your parents nuts) made by these noisemakers, and it is sure to liven up any party!
