Café Page 102, the new kid on the block promises a lot for the bookworms of the town. It has an exuberant ambiance designed with a hint of a Mad Hatters party with books flying out of the sky. As soon as one steps onto the stairs for the café on the first floor, one realizes that a fantasy experience is about to begin. Each step of the stair is in itself a classic masterpiece in literature. Café Page 102 greets you under a sky not full of stars but of books. One can clearly see that the interior of the cafe intrigues one from left to right and keeps the eyeballs wide open. Friendly staff members greet every guest in the same manner and after knowing the number of heads, guide the visitors to one of the tables. A very different sort of table is the one which has large decorated tea cups as sofas and glass topped stack of books as tables. The total seating capacity is around 40-45 people in a very airy room with a perfect cool temperature in these boiling summers.
A very efficient staff is always at hand and gives a detailed description and recommendations of the dishes in case anyone has trouble ordering from a very limited menu. Since we wanted something extravagant but simple in flavor, we decided on “Roasted Garlic Mushrooms” for the appetizer which was slathered with the perfect amount of garlic, butter, parsley and a slight tinge of lemon. It was followed by two main courses, a “Pollo Caprese” and a good old “New York Beef Steak”. The former dish consisted of juicy chicken accompanied with pasta and mozzarella, while the Beef Steak had a lovely pink in the center with the gradient going from pink to char on the outer layer. To wash down the food, we ordered a very refreshing Mint Margarita, exquisitely presented with lime and sugar coated rims; a perfect summer escape!!
Overall, the flavors of each dish matched their description on the menu and a single dish was a full meal in itself, basically worth every penny paid. With their cozy environment and quality food, Café Page 102 has a long journey ahead of it and is definitely a place we would like to visit again. Thumbs up!!
