If you dream food, talk food, listen food and eat like all the world’s happiness comes from that one hot dinner plate then this is the movie for you because trust me, you’ll be salivating ten minutes in the movie.
Taking you on a foodie road trip starting from Miami, chef Carl Casper, portrayed by the charismatic and talented actor/director/producer Jon Favreau, quits his job at an upmarket restaurant after a bad review by online critic (Oliver Platt) and a brassy meltdown viral videoed confrontation that envelopes him in shame. With no real pleasure in the routine dishes he’s bored of making for the past decade and working under an unimaginative and shrewd restaurateur who shuns away from the word ‘experimenting’. Chef Carl takes his ex-wife (Sofía Vergara) suggestion and hits the road on a food truck with his savvy tech son (Emjay Anthony) and enthusiastic friend and sue-chef (John Leguizamo).
From Miami to New Orleans to Texas, Chef Carl reunites with his flaming passion of touching peoples life with food that makes him the most happiest.
Serving his own artistic creations on a plate, with his son using social media to create the most happening social event, the journey helps Chef Carl to improve his relationship with his 10-year old son, ignite the flames of love with his supportive ex-wife and get back to his roots that started it all. The love of making great food and touching people’s lives.
A heartwarming and delicious movie for all the food lovers out there, with a sassy soundtrack following colorful vibrant food, down to earth humor and memorable experiences of the few distinct cities in all its homey glory. This is the journey of a man who once was the upcoming hottest new thing to a jobless, money less, divorced and inattentive father. However, by the end of the movie the road trip paves the pathway towards a better professional and personal outlook for Chef Carl.
