Dhoraji – The Spot for The Best Golagandas of Karachi

After all the heat that Karachi has been throwing at us we thought of visiting Dhoraji and trying out those famous Golla Gandas. Just the thought of a Golla Ganda alone is enough to beat the heat since it’s all about crushed ice and sweet syrups with appealing toppings. Once we were done trying some of these absolute delicious sweet ice treats we then had our personal favorites.

4th Best – Geo Golla Corner

After looking at their clean cart we were sure about trying them. We ordered a plain Golla with condensed milk. We wanted to try what they thought was the best. Unlike all those other Gollas out there, to our surprise this one did not really have a lot of colors. It was served in a plastic bowl, had very little syrup and the huge amount of sweet condensed milk covered it. The flavor was not as we expected. That we are sure was because of the lesser quantity of sweet syrup. For all those who like their Gollas less sweet, Geo Golla Corner is the right spot for you.

3rd Best: Dill Pasand Gola

At Dill Pasand we wanted to try something sweeter so we asked the person to make a Golla that’s slightly sweeter. We ordered a gala with pineapple and jelly. Crushed ice and pineapples were a treat together. Dill Pasand served their gollas in pink plastic bowls which were neither too big nor too small. They had the perfect size and quantity.  These tasted nice however we would have liked them more if they had more condensed milk.

2nd Best – Salem Kadir Uncle Ka Gola

We had heard so much about these uncle gollas that we did not want to walk out of Dhoraji without trying them. We ordered their special Golla that had fine crushed ice with lots of syrup that was of just the right taste, condensed milk, pineapples, jelly and chocolate sauce. Now that was one good golla. The presentation was not as appealing but the flavors covered that part. They served their golla in a disposable bowl. It had all those pretty colors lots of fruits and jelly. The only problem we had was its huge size that we are sure were just too much of calories.

The Best – Ghosia Yummy Golla

Coming to our favorite. We ordered a very traditional Golla which comes on a stick. After looking at a small child making it for us, I wasn’t sure about this one being good but the little boy totally surprised us with excellent Golla making skills. A gorgeous looking ice ball on a stick came. It had all those colors we look for in a golla along with some white accents which gave a very cool effect. As far as the flavor was concerned, the Golla was a real treat. The size was perfect with perfect amounts of syrups and condensed milk, and the chocolate sauce on the top was frozen. It  tasted like heaven and we forgot how hot it was.
