The name says it all. It is definitely a challenge even for those who have been regularly exercising on a daily basis. Mind you it’s not for the weak hearted. My suggestion to people is to first strengthen your will power before you even think of paying as usually quite a few drop out after the first week which is probably the toughest in the entire program.
42 day program is basically a kick start to a lifestyle change. Not only do you go through a gruesome 40 minute high intensity workout on a daily basis the real challenge is the diet. It’s always said that abs are made in the kitchen not in the gym and that’s true. You may slay yourself at the gym daily for hours on end but if your diet is not good you will not get anywhere. Best thing about the 42 day challenge is that there is a pre-post analysis which takes place. A lot of amateurs new to this lifestyle get bogged down when they see that after three weeks their weight has come to a standstill
Again checking your fitness goals via weighing scale is the wrong way to go about it as you go through this program you’re not only losing fat but gaining lean muscle. Muscles being heavier than fat will always delude you from the actual result. The best way to go about is to measure your body with an inch tape and see how you’re getting toned, mirror being the best judge. You will feel better, sleep better and look better than you have ever before.
Now the question is, is the 42 day challenge a hundred percent guarantee to lose weight? Yes, but the degree of loss is according to the guidelines you follow. Some exercise to the best of the capacity but cheat on their diets and a few follow the diet but skip a few days for exercise. Torsem and Nusrat always stay around after the exercise regimen to answer any impending questions that the people may have. Having the entire class doing the same exercise also gives you a chance to learn, help, compare and compete which each other which is another bonus you do not get at any other fitness center. Best part about it is you can do this with your close friends and family and help each other in staying the course and keeping on track.
All in all, 42 day challenge is a must try for all. Reason for its success is that it definitely gives results and thankfully fitness industry is catching up in Pakistan. I recommend it to everyone who can seriously give 42 days to their transformation which is nothing compared to the abuse we have given to our bodies over the decades in the past. In short, if you haven’t done it DO IT, if you’re doing it DON’T GIVE UP, if you have done it CONTINUE with fitness.

The forty two day challenge was exactly that – a challenge. When I did this fitness programme for the first time, the goal was simple: I wanted to lose weight. I figured I needed to lose about ten pounds to get back into decent shape, so I joined the challenge thinking it would be easy. Ide heard people talking about it, some said it was tough, others were saying ‘you eat a lot’ and some were talking about it being fun as well.
My experience was that it was grueling, to say the least, and probably because I took the exercise very seriously, as well as the diet plan that I was given to follow. The diet plan was given based on my BMI (body mass index) which I had to find out through a simple test at the Shapes health club.
To sum it up, the meal plan required eating at intervals of two to three hours, and a total of six meals in the day. Breakfast was heavy, with an omelette made from four egg whites, followed by a meal three hours later, consisting of salad and chicken on a regular day. Lunch was carbohydrate heavy, but based on brown carbohydrates, usually a Pakistani dish cooked in a particular manner in a controlled quantity.
The fourth meal was usually around five pm, and another salad and piece of chicken and dinner was after the seven thirty pm workout with no carbohydrates only lean meat.
Over to the workout, the first week my body took some getting used to the intense nature of the workout. Not only was I not used to the kind of workout regimen that was being followed, but I also wasn’t prepared for the stress the workout puts on your back and knees.
After a tough first week, which I got through with a lot of aches and pains, the second week became easier, and thereon the workout routine, while never easy, become more manageable as my body began to adjust to the daily rigours of high intensity interval training coupled with weight training.
I must say in spite of the grueling workout routine and tough to follow, diet plan, which included a detox day on Sunday, (where you are only allowed to drink juice the whole day), and only one cheat meal in the week (on Saturday), I did really enjoy doing the Forty Two Day Challenge.
First of all, working out in a large group out in the open makes working out fun. The group dynamic definitely helps in making sure that the workout, while tough, is ultimately enjoyable as being part of a group provides a unique motivation of its own.
Additionally, the venue provides a good opportunity to meet people in general and to discuss your progress in particular, and makes for an overall pleasant experience.
I read somewhere that being part of a weight loss community has been proven to boost weight loss efforts, and after my experience I would have to say that this is true. With everyone around you motivated and focused on the same goal, it is easier to get your desired results as opposed to going at it alone.
Overall, I would recommend the Challenge to anyone interested in weight loss, with one world of caution: Because of the strenuous nature of the workout, try to be careful about protecting your knees and back, and may be even avoid some of the exercises that exert heavy pressure on these joints.
Otherwise , the forty two day challenge is fun, enjoyable and worth it!
